What A Week

What A Week

Hello Rebels, and welcome back to my life.

Phew. What a week it’s been.

First of all, I’m very appreciative of the thoughtful and measured comments on my Tuesday video. They were not hyperbolic or inflammatory at all.

No, but seriously, thank you to the people who actually WERE thoughtful and measured. You more than outweigh the…well, the rest of them.

You might have noticed, however, that there were no videos in between my Tuesday one and THIS one.

And that is probably something that is going to continue in the future. I think I’m going to become a two-videos-a-week channel.

That’s for a couple of different reasons. One, through the years I’ve been doing this, we’ve seen one thing very consistently: and that is that I am not consistent.

But I think I can commit to a schedule of two videos a week. I think I can. I might be wrong. We’re gonna see.

I’m going to try to do videos on Mondays and Fridays and just see how it goes. I don’t know.

If you’re a patron, by the way, you will still get your two exclusive weekend videos.

Or at least you will still get them at the same frequency and reliability as you are currently getting them. At. At? I think I needed an At to tie up that sentence.

But this move is based on something you all have been VERY clear about, and it’s advice every content creator gives, and it’s that consistency is better than quantity.

Last year I released hundreds of YouTube videos. More than most professional YouTubers release in a given year.

But those videos were one every day for a month, and then nothing for two weeks, and then three in a week, and then a month off, and then one a day for three weeks, and…there’s just no schedule.

Whereas the vlogbrothers, as just one example, release videos EVERY SINGLE Tuesday and Friday. If there’s anything beyond that, it’s a BONUS video on one of the other days of the week. But they never miss their regular days.

And that consistency is just way more valuable. Even though I would love to see MORE videos from them, it’s tremendously comforting to know I can always see SOME videos from them on those EXACT days.

What else has been going on? Well, we finished another book and sent it off for editing.

That’s exciting. It was the Academy Journals Book Three. I don’t have a physical one to show you, since it’s being edited, but that will be coming out in July and I could not be more excited.

There is also something…else…coming out next week. And it is something else I am very excited about. In the long run, maybe not as excited as I am about the new book.

But in a very immediate, squirrel, OOH SHINY sense, it’s…it’s very exciting. I think a lot of you are really going to enjoy it. That should be releasing next week.

OH YEAH! Next week I’m going to Vidcon! It starts on Wednesday and I think it’s just going to be totally freaking awesome.

I will of course be taking video while I’m there. I probably won’t be able to release a video about it a week from today, but it’ll probably be Monday, i.e. ten days from today.

But between now and Vidcon, I do have to stop doing something else, and that’s Vloganovel.

If you’re a member of the Vloganovel crew, I’m sorry, but I need to take a break between now and Vidcon, because there’s something else I have to take care of.

It’s a work-for-hire job that I was LITERALLY hired for last year, and was supposed to complete by September or October, and it still isn’t done.

And the truth is, I’ve just been putting it off. I just haven’t been doing it. And it’s not okay. It’s frankly super douchey of me. And I’m going to stop.

So between now and Vidcon, I’ve got a little breathing room, the next book is done and being edited right now, and I’m going to buckle down and work on this thing and hopefully get it done before Vidcon.

So yeah. Sorry. Just keep an eye out—I’ll be back around before you know it.

And that’s it for this week. But a final word on the thing I hinted about before—definitely make sure to watch next week’s video. The thing I’m releasing is going to be…it’s going to be pretty awesome.

Okay. Patrons, I’ll catch you with an exclusive video tomorrow (if you want to be a patron and support the channel, there’s a link in the description) and for everybody else, I will hopefully see you on Monday. Byyye.
